AMGmarket.com: Benz Patent of 1886
Mercedes-Benz announced that it is honored to have the Benz Patent of 1886 selected for inclusion into the Memory of the World Register. Memory of the World is an initiative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization that seeks to preserve documents of historical significance. A few examples in the register include the Magna Carta, Tolstoy’s personal manuscripts and The Wizard of Oz.
Here is an excerpt from the Memory of the World Register:
Documentary heritage submitted by Germany and recommended for inclusion in the Memory of the World Register in 2011.

The patent for a “Vehicle with gas engine operation”, which Carl Benz submitted in 1886, is of worldwide significance and documents the beginning of the emergence of individual mobilization in industrialized countries and its spread throughout the world. There are also a number of rare contextualizing historical documents in the company archive of Daimler AG from the time of the first series production in 1888 and the market introduction of the gasoline automobile documents, which together with the patent, bear witness, in a unique and irreplaceable way, to the origin of today’s “automobile society.”

Mercedes-Benz Development – New 2012 SLS AMG Roadster
AMGmarket.com News: Source – MBUSA Press Release/May 5, 2011/MONTVALE, NJ: The convertible SLS AMG Roadster is the second car to be developed independently by AMG. The Coupe and Roadster concepts were created in parallel – very advantageous during the development process. During this 3-year development period for the 2012 SLS AMG Roadster, the engineers devoted particular attention to bodyshell rigidity, driving dynamics, the soft top and NVH.
Currently undergoing testing in Stuttgart, the 2012 SLS AMG Roadsters are minimally disguised as they cover their test routes. Easily identified by enthusiasts, these two-seaters with a fabric soft top have no Mercedes stars or model designations to be seen, just black adhesive foil at the front, rear and along the sides. The proportions speak for themselves with a long hood, large wheels and a short rear unified by breathtaking design.
