The 2009 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG features a hand-built 6.2-liter V-8 engine that produces 451 horsepower at 6,800 rpm, with a 7,200 rpm redline, and 443 lb-ft of torque at 5,000 rpm. An optional feature on the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is its COMAND control and display system that allows the driver to access vehicle functions such as the navigation system and harman/kardon LOGIC7 professional surround sound audio system, which includes a 4 GB hard drive for music storage and six-disc CD/DVD changer.

CNET Editor, Wayne Cunningham, reported on several features of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG and its COMAND interface.  The report highlights the navigation system, which stores map data on an in-dash hard drive allowing much more data than a DVD-based system and additional space for music storage. The report also provides high-marks for the navigation system’s maps, which are presented in high-resolution graphics including easy-to-read street names with white outline around black lettering.  The CNET reviewers noted in their report that they were impressed with how quickly the Mercedes-Benz COMAND navigation system calculated and recalculated routes, and provided clear lane guidance on freeways. The C63 AMG harman/kardon audio system received accolades for its sound quality. The report stated,

“listening to some lossless music from our connected iPod, we were blown away with the separation and clarity…there were moments when the system had us looking at where we had heard a particular instrument in the cabin.”

Beyond the audio system’s amazing sound, it was also the engine and exhaust note that caught CNET’s attention,

“the C63 AMG's engine produced a vicious bark when fired up, the kind of sound that sends small dogs running, makes any ninjas in the vicinity go into a fighting crouch, and puts even the most macho gearheads into a swoon.”

In other news, the 2009 C63 AMG can now be found on a new Mercedes-Benz website (www.AMG-360.com), which was created by Critical Mass – an interactive agency for MBUSA. The site showcases the C63 AMG in three interactive 360-degree video scenarios – shot on location at Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the Vegas Strip.   Leveraging Immersive Media’s proprietary eleven-lens video capture system, the new website allows viewers to drag the camera angle anywhere in a spherical video, simulating real-world experiences in cruise, drag race, and hot lap scenarios.   Realistic C63 AMG exhaust notes are also featured.

The AMG C63 is a return to the concept of bigger engine in a smaller car. What does Feyhl think of the AMG C63? Feyhl says,

"It is a very special car, as the C class has grown to about the same size as the 6.3 and the W124 Hammer, but with much more power. We want to see how far we can go with this car."
