Best advice for oil viscosity is check the manual for your specific vehicle. Manuals are available online from Mercedes-Benz.

Dan,
The recommended oil weight is listed in your official manual. If you don't have the manual, you can find the manuals for Mercedes-Benz vehicles online (google search or check the website mbusa.org for more info).

Why is Redline synthetic oil, the best of the crop group V
oil, not recommended by Mercedes ? Mobile I is only a group IV oil and has not near the specification like Redline .
The viscosity oil recommendations are way to low for engines with over 50,000 miles. I use Redline 10W-40 and my engines sounds much quieter .

Thanks Hans

The best is the oil recommended by the manufacturer; see your vehicles manual. If a substitute meets all of the specs, then it is up to you whether or not you want to use it.
